Paper makeing

so lately with my project its been about createing from paper/ cardboard.
so today i have gone out baught mysef a nice cheap blender, a bowl, some jiffy cloths and made my   very own strainers from old canvas and some material.

I had so much fun playing around. the texture was disgusting but reminded me so much of childhood playing in the water tanks in nursery school.

i discovered the consistancy of water was difficult to get spot on, it differd from paper type to the amount of paper used.

i experimented with differnt colours and adding other colours to.

i have made a second bigger strainer made of mesh.
out of the mesh left over i have also created some templates that i will be experimenting with on friday to see if th papeer will dry in different shapes.

paper alice

ive been researching how to create my own paper, i learnt how to do this in college and i reli enjoyed it.
i found this clip on youtube by a lady known as paper alice.

she talks about the process and the possibilities of paper makeing.

site project

we was gven 1  week to come up with a sight specific project based around the university.
\i did a lot of research and i based my work on L.S Lowry.
looking around the campus i saw blue plaques and red plaques the most were located on the building which holds the Holden Gallery.
There was a plaque in dedication to Adolf Vallent who was a french impressionist painter, he tutored at the school of art for many many years.
Looking at every plaque in detail i realised there was nothing to commemorate L.S Lowry. After being asked if i was ok after a recepionist in the grosvenor building saw me looking at the plauqs in the building, i decided to ask her personaly if she knew anything about him studying at the university. She told me she hadnt a clue but had not heard it before.
So my research started.

I found out that L.S Lowry was personaly tutored by Adolf Vallette the gentleman who has a plaque outside of the grosvenor building.
He studied by A. Vallette for 10 years.
i then decided to research into the blue plaques themselves looking to see if ther was one dedicated to Lowry.
I found out he has a red plaque at his home in salford, but the upkeep of the home itself was appauling. rubbish in the gardens paint peeling off the windows, it looked like a council flat for addicts in the photograph.
i decided to create my won plaque in dedication to lowry, it was made from perspects and i designed the sign which was then was cut with the laser cutter by a tutor, i then created a basic frame and pieced them alltogether and then with the wonders of silk screen i printed the manchester emblem in the plaque colour of blue, so the lion unicorn and shield was present. then i glue gunned the plaque onto the frame and displayed it in the holden gallery.
When i presented the plaque i explained about the appreciation us as art students have for artists who have made it as big as lowery has, i explained how its home should be around the students and in the building that helped to create such an artist. in the cafe it was displayed lowery would have stood once upon a time. it took its place on the shelf overlooking the students working socialising, and working there way up the education systom dedicating there livesto art just like lowery had done them many years ago.
